Class overview

In ELA, students read various genres in fiction, poems, nonfiction, articles and short stories. Student writing ranges from informational research to creative narratives.

About me

Ms. Leonard has been teaching in Franklin Lakes since 1992. Her career began at the original Colonial Road School. Then she traveled over to Woodside where her career continued until the newly renovated FAMS was waiting for the 6th grade to become the newest members of the middle school experience in 1996.

She grew up in Wyckoff and graduated in 1988 from Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes (maiden name Rush). In 1992, she graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York with a BS in Elementary Education. She graduated in the Spring of 2000 with her Masters in Reading and is a certified Reading Specialist.

Ms. Leonard's goal is to encourage a love of learning.  She strives to motivate children and help them to be the best students and people they can be.

There is nothing she loves more than being with her family.  Jack and Nathan, her two sons, are the lights of her life.
